Where Artistic Memories Begin by PAM HAIRFIELD

"Vintage Beginnings" is a place for me to document and share my thoughts, family, inspirations and creativity. They "begin" here for your enjoyment, as well as mine and some day, they will be "vintage" and hopefully, a link to my history.

MIXED MEDIA ARTIST

My photo
My name is Pam Hairfield. I have been creating most all my life, from paper crafts to sewing to needle work and everything else, in between. I would describe myself as a versatile, Mixed Media Artist. I have previously volunteered my time and craft experiences with senior citizens and as a leader in Girl and Boy Scouts. It gave me great satisfaction. Since being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 12 years ago and having to retire from nursing, my passion for creativity and self expression has kept my mind and heart open. I am consistently discovering new art techniques and perspectives, by taking workshops, reading, experimenting and sharing with other artists. This not only fulfills my own satisfaction, but will allow me to share my learned knowledge and encourage the process and creativity with others. I live with my loving husband of 28 years, who supports all my quirky ideas and 3 rescued dogs, Cody, Sam and Lily. I have three married children, 2 grandchildren and a third due next February. My life is full and I couldn’t be any happier!

FIREFIGHTER : MY SON

Meet my oldest son, Matthew. He is a full time firefighter for the city of Concord, NC. They were involved in a training session on the ladder truck, so I thought it was a perfect moment for a photo shoot!

He started out volunteering in our little town during high school and liked it so much he applied to the city. He was accepted, attended rookie school and here he is three years later just loving his job! People ask if it scares me, having him in this job. He has told me a story or two that made me cringe a little, but for the most part, I try not to think about it. I know he is trained well for safety and he has excellent co-workers backing him up. So to you Matthew... stay safe. I am so proud of you!

I met up with Dixie at Stamper's Alley today, neither one of us knowing the other would be there.

A LOCAL ARTIST VISITS

I have to tell you about my last weekend. I went to a workshop with guest artist Donna Downey. It was so much fun! I learned ten new "Resist Techniques" using different mediums. Glue, paint, ink, OH MY! It was a dirty job, but someone had to do it. A few added embellishments and wallah! This was just a tease of the goodness out there for me to learn. I can't wait until the next workshop! Thank you Donna!

RESOLUTIONS AND GOALS

OK.... yes, I know, 9 days into the new year and no posts. If I mis-spell a word or two, it's because it's so darn cold and my fingers need to thaw! No resolutions this year, as most of the time, they are short lived. I did however, make a list of goals to work on. First on the list, post on my blog. So here I am! LOL. Next is to straighten up my craft room. It's half done. Third goal is to finish all projects before starting any more. Oops, last night was a crop and I started some of Grayson's layouts, instead of finishing my wedding album. OK, a slap on the wrist... but the child is so cute! Not that Me, as a Nana, is biased or anything! (smile) That does it for goals, the rest is blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. For the rest of you with New Year resolutions, I wish you luck!
